| Introduction of new FIH Outdoor & Indoor 2011-12 Rules of Hockey - Addendum | |
| Clarification has been sought and given with regard to Rule 13.9.a regarding taking a Penalty Stroke before the whistle is blown, which is as follows: If the stroke is taken before the whistle and no goal is scored, it is an offence. However, as with all offences, you would not penalise it if by doing so you advantage the team that has offended. Therefore you ignore the offence, “play on” and let the stroke stand as a missed stroke. Jerry Yates | |
| Introduction of new FIH Outdoor & Indoor 2011-12 Rules of Hockey | |
| The Board of the England Hockey Board has approved the early introduction of the new 2011-12 Rules of Hockey (both Outdoor and Indoor) at the start of the coming hockey season (1 September 2010). This decision is supported by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and follows a proposal from the Officiating & Rules Committee. Implementing the new rules on 1 September 2010 will ensure that all competitions are played under a consistent set of rules for the entire season. With the significance of the indoor change and our indoor England Hockey League and National Knock-Out Competitions in counties and regions starting pre-Christmas, it was agreed that to have the competitions start with old rules and then conclude with new would be very difficult. Additionally, the decision is supported by the recognition that the new Rules are almost all matter of fact and not judgmental in any respect. None of the changes should prove difficult or contentious to implement. The details for both the outdoor and indoor changes have been loaded onto the MRHUA Web Handbook & Downloads page, under the Umpire Guidance Section The Outdoor Rule Changes can be viewed by following the link below. ... | Hospitality and Behaviour - The umpires' verdicts last season. | |
| Below are the scores for recorded by umpires on the first teams of clubs in the BodyKraft League. The qualification for inclusion is more than 6 reports on Hospitality and ten or more reports for behaviour. Note that umpires tend not to mark down clubs overmuch for yellow cards for technical offences but do tend to be unforgiving of dissent on the pitch. Hence a club with significant cards for technical offences may well score more positively than one with few cards but with players and coaches who whinge a lot and show significant dissent. Apologies for the columns not aligning properly; I'd like to think I could repair this on the system, but haven't discovered how! | Traffic Delays on the M1 between January 2008 and October 2010 | |
| Dear Colleagues, This news item affects all umpires travelling to matches via the M1 between Junctions 25 and 28, both Northbound and Southbound. With effect from Sunday 27th January 2008 until October 2010 the M1 widening scheme between Junctions 25 and 28 will take place. From Sunday 27th January 2008 there will be a 50mph speed limit southbound between J27 and J26, with three narrow lanes. From Saturday 16th February there will be similar restrictions introduced northbound between J26 and J27. There will inevitably be delays at peak traffic times. I will try to keep this up to date as further information becomes available. Jerry Yates Secretary, MRHUA |
